If Family Tree Maker does not set up Microsoft Internet Explorer correctly during installation, follow these steps to set it up manually.
First, you need to make the correct entries in the FTW.INI file:
Windows 95 displays the Find:All Files dialog box.
Windows 95 searches your hard drive for FTW.INI. When it locates the file, it lists it in the bottom half of the Find:All Files dialog box. In this case, skip to step 8. If Windows 95 cannot find the file, the status bar of the dialog box will say "0 file(s) found." In this case, continue with step 6.
Windows 95 searches your hard drive for FTW.INI.
BrowserType=32
Browser=4
BrowserPath=C:\Program Files\Plus!\Microsoft Internet\Iexplore.exe
(or you may want to use the short path name which is
C:\PROGRA~1\PLUS!\MICROS~1\IEXPLORE.EXE)
In the "Browser Path" line, IEXPLORE.EXE is the Microsoft Internet Explorer browser file and everything before that is the path to this file -- the location of the file on your hard drive. Your path may be different from the one listed above. If you don't know where on your computer Microsoft Internet Explorer is installed, use the Windows 95 Find command to search for IEXPLORE.EXE. When Windows 95 locates this file, look in the In Folder column and copy down the complete path.
If Family Tree Maker is installed in a directory other than C:\FTW, type the name of that directory in front of FTOINST.EXE instead.
