Why Setup Might Not Successfully Detect or Set Up the Browser

If you bought a brand-new computer with only Windows installed and then correctly installed one of the supported World Wide Web browsers followed by Family Tree Maker, Family Tree Maker will detect and successfully set up that web browser. Family Tree Maker knows how each browser should install itself and looks for those telltale clues in order to detect and properly configure Family Tree Maker to work with your browser.

However, for several different reasons, such as reinstalling a browser into a different location or installing a browser that was customized by your ISP, etc., the clues that Family Tree Maker needs to complete this process might be gone or point in the wrong direction.

Knowledge Base articles are available from the Online-Browser Issues section that provide step-by-step setup instructions for all of the Web browsers that are compatible with Family Tree Maker. If you are having a problem setting up a browser to work with Family Tree Maker, click the appropriate link. You might want to print the instructions for future reference.
