In addition to trees and reports, you can publish a family book to your home page and share a more complete representation of your family history. Here are a few things to keep in mind when you publish your family book on the Internet:

• You must create a home page on Family Tree Maker Online before you can publish a family book on the Internet.

• Your book must include a Table of Contents and an Index. If you don't have these items in your book, Family Tree Maker prompts you to add them when you publish the book.

• Some of the text styles in your book may not be available online. Family Tree Maker Online maintains your text styles whenever possible.

• Any images you inserted do not appear in the online version of your book.

• Fan trees appear as box style trees in the online version of your book.

• Each tree in your book can contain up to 2,000 individuals, and you can have a combined total of up to 60,000 individuals in all the trees in your book.

• If your book contains more than 10,000 pages, you must create a shorter version of the book before you publish it on the Internet.

1. Display the book you want to publish on the Internet. From the View menu, select Books.

2. From the Internet menu, select Publish Book to the Internet.

   Family Tree Maker displays a dialog box informing you that it is preparing your book for publication.

3. Click OK to continue.

   Family Tree Maker paginates the book and looks for a Table of Contents and an Index. If it does not find these items, it prompts you to add them.

   Next, Family Tree Maker asks if you want to contribute your Family File to the World Family Tree project.

4. If you have already checked your Family File for errors and want to contribute it to the World Family Tree Project, click Yes. Otherwise, click No.

   Note: Visit the World Family Tree Web site for more information on contributing to the World Family Tree Project.

   Family Tree Maker begins copying your book to our Web server and displays a progress meter during the process.

5. Wait for the book to finish uploading.

Don't forget to close your Internet connection when you're done exploring the Internet. Depending on your setup, you may need to close both your browser and the connection to your Internet Service Provider.
