Problems Publishing Reports, InterneTrees, or Contributing Files to the World Family Tree Project
Are you using America Online? You'll find setup instructions for America Online in
this Online section. Use these instructions to verify that the BrowserType= line in FTW.INI is correct: if you're using America Online for Windows 95, it should be
BrowserType=32. If you're using America Online for Windows 3.1, it should read BrowserType=16. The online
button will work in these cases, but submissions will fail.
Note: To verify which version of America Online you're using, from the program's Help menu,
select About America Online.
Verify that you're using the correct helper apps. If you're using a 16-bit
version of the program, you need to enter FTOSUB16.EXE and FTINST16.EXE as
helper applications for the given browser. If you're using a 32-bit version,
then the apps are FTOSUB.EXE and FTOINST.EXE. Print the appropriate browser
instructions from this Online section and use them to help you with this step.
Are you behind a firewall? This can be an issue if you're using a cable modem or accessing our
Web site from work. You cannot submit files online, or publish reports or trees to our Web site when
behind a firewall.
Your issues may be due to Internet traffic. If you're confident everything's
set up correctly, clear the cache on your browsers and try again later.
