He was at the Annapolis Naval School when the Civil War Began. He left the school in May or June 1861 and went to Harper's Ferry. He was in the Confederate States Navy as long as it existed; part of the time at Charleston. After the War he studied law with his brother-in-law, Mr. John Jordan. He was Kentucky. He had two sons.
